I was reading an article on horror fiction by Douglas Winter in the latest issue of Weird Tales magazine last night when I came up with the following:
revulsion is what we feel when we see "something ugly";
horror is what we feel when we realize "something ugly" could happen to us;
terror is what we feel when we realize it's about to.
