My God, I won! Me!

Oh. My. Godandlittleknittedbooties.

I just got notified I won First Prize in the Writers of the Future Contest! For my story, My Daughter, the Martian.

*falls over*

This is a quarterly contest, awarding First, Second, and Third Prizes, which includes a monetary prize and publication in the annual anthology. The 2004 anthology will be out some time next year (if you ask me very nicely I might sign it for you), and all 12 of this year's winners will also be judged for an annual prize as well.

A Hell of a Thing

It's a hell of a thing...

When you look at sample reports to generate reporting requirements for a new software application, and realize your client has stores in Anchorage, AK. And they just opened a Dimond store -- aigh! I went to high school at Dimond! OK, only for one year.

Wait, I'll be 100 times worse if they announce a store opening in my actual hometown.
